If you are looking for a surfing spot along the Côte d'Argent, or just a pleasant sand beach to sit down and relax then the 12 km beach of Montalivet could be the ideal place for you.
The Montalivet beach is divided into 5 sections:
1/
Nord where you will find the boat slipway.
2/
Central where you will find the Montalivet lifeguard station overlooking the waterfront (with helicopter pad).
3/
Sud including the Kokoloco surf club cabin, holiday camp lifeguard post and the south lifeguard post (with helicopter pad).
4/
CHM with its lifeguard station. (Please note this is the only naturist beach of Montalivet).
1800 mètres of beach for naturists.
5/
ACM with lifeguard station for the holiday village situated behind.
The next 8km of beach are 100% natural with NO lifeguard presence until you reach the Pin Sec.
6000 hectares of forest with over 20km of cycle path will give you an ideal play ground.
Please note that the forest is fragile so please be careful when you venture in.
The forest was first planted in Napoleonic times to help drain the marshlands which covered this region, so you will find a fine mix of Atlantic Pine (planted for harvest) and the original trees from the days before including birch and cedar
The Vendays-Montalivet section is part of the largest forest in Europe that stretches down to the Pays Basque region. Natural wildlife viewing is also a possibility here you will find wild boar, deer, rabbit, fox and pheasants amongst the local inhabitants..
Between the villages of Vendays-Montalivet and Montalivet-les-Bains you will cross the Pont de Brede, stop for a few hours and take a walk either left or right into the marshlands which can easily be explored and appreciated.
Here you will find great opportunities for bird watching, including the Canada Goose, Hawk, Crow, Swallow and Mallard Duck depending on the season. Natural wildlife viewing is also a possibility see if you can spot a ragondin amoungst the tall grasses...
