In 1957, the construction of the covered market gave a fresh impetus to the growth of tourism to the village of Vendays-Montalivet. The village's shopkeepers came to set up their benches. A few traders from out of the village also came and unpacked their wares... the market as we know today had started.
The many villas built in the area and the famous Centre Hélio Marin (CHM) attracted the faithful holidaymakers to the market, who flocked to the market in their hundreds to shop and enjoy the unique atmosphere.
For Vendays-Montalivet, this is the beginning of "Europe". Nowdays, every morning in the summer season the Montalivet is more European than ever!
